Mumbai has a deep pool of wedding photographers and filmmakers, and many of them also travel across India and abroad for destination weddings. Candid, story-led work is the main style. In a December 2025 PTI report on wedding trends, the co-founder of the photography firm Ombre said candid, documentary-led stories continue to dominate.

That doesn't mean you can skip the posed photos. Most families still want group portraits with relatives, and many Mumbai teams send a candid photographer and a traditional one to the same function.

Shooting in Mumbai's venues

Mumbai weddings often happen in banquet halls and hotel ballrooms, which can be dim, crowded and short on space. Good photographers handle this with their own lights and by knowing where to stand. When you look at portfolios, look for indoor evening functions, not only golden-hour outdoor shoots. Ask if they've worked at your venue before.

Many Mumbai weddings also blend traditions: a Maharashtrian ceremony, a Gujarati garba night, a church wedding and a reception, or a Parsi lagan. A photographer who knows your rituals will know when to be ready for the key moments.

Pre-wedding shoots in Mumbai
